Tiger Tonic

ree

This is a threshold moment for me, yet it's so surreal to debut musically while sitting at the desk tapping tentatively... the dog breathing in peaceful rhythms as if echoing the distant sea.

I organized some sounds and attached some beauty and symbols to them and then sent it out to the world's highest frequency factory faction without barely lifting a finger. I sent these tones out to the world of listeners to just see if any agree: all people and tigers need to roam free.

The Tiger Tonic music is titled tonic for dual purposes. Its in its adjectival form as a description of tone and it's meant to act as a sonic tonic for lots of what ails us. The long mellow sound journeys aim to set listeners free from anxiety and haste so they can consider purpose and waste.

For just a few minutes, come wander with me. None of these sounds anticipate being played on repeat. We recognize that this music serves a different purpose than what many people seek from musical engagement. This Tiger Tonic is meant for everyone in need of some care and attention, like the tiger. It's an experimental tone setting and its done as an intentional sound journey. There are no words, but all of the sonic symbolism speaks volumes.

The production of this audio remedy is designed to inspire people to act in ways that save humanity and the planet. We are selling some Save the Tiger campaign merchandise options at this time. The money goes to the environmental activists engaged in saving the tiger.

People might say: but where are the words? I have so many words to share about these musical journeys, I couldn't reduce the songs by affixing them with the words that are now coming to me now as I listen. The musical/lyrical messages may change. For me, music is an engagement that is experiential and existential, which is why I have so much trouble accepting the recording process. Making music for production is an entirely different thing from producing music... which is just playing to express something both spiritual and connected to the physical human core. I am an advocate of play, so it has been a journey of adjustment that led me to craft this album of something different than what I thought I would make when I committed to testing out my life v. reality theory.

I'm an artist. That was what I needed to discover. I was also potentially a prime target for falling for music so hypnotically. It's been like that, close enough, so I've found some loose imaginings and woven them into a saga like a sailor splices two bitter ends to make one rope much stronger, the way we choose our spices for seasoning a meal that's too bland. I always try to find the right words the way a chef addresses a menu plan..

I think I might sing with these songs if there could be performances. My performance art hasn't found a way out of its own lonely hole yet, but making a way to pitch these songs to the public has proven to be a good opener for me. I sometimes tend to be a backwards artist, and such was my process with these songs. The sounds came before the words, and the sounds came out of my fingers without much planning, although sometimes gathering around an organizing idea. I was compelled to play with a MIDI and these sounds came out of me. I am not a practiced pianist, nor computer-savvy keyboardist, although I've always focused intensely on the words I type.

I haven't figured out how to switch the order of the songs around, but they aren't listed the way I wanted to present the sound story. If you care to hear the journey as intended, please follow this order. I'll eventually figure out how to change it.

Can You See, Dorian D?

Acorns Falling

heart organ

Montgomery's PBfly

in the belly of the whale

Icy Etude in Dm

Beyond Glacial Dimensions

Amounting to Sounding

An Oceanic Chorale

What a game

Birds in the Trees

I have a specific literary theme in mind that is tying all of these loose impressions together.

Listen, and think about it. I will unpack all of the words in some way eventually. Feel invited to hear your own words as you consider the messages carefully expressed here.
